the only way out is to turn the whole system off. maybe blow in the NES cartridge a few years later if you're so inclined. i wasn't (i've not gone back since UTA) but some might be!
More like throw the whole system out of the window and buy a different game platform. I might go back, but not under the current conditions. They house ruled things that weren't meant to have house rules. Nah. I'm good.
This sounds like the crash out that I took out of the university system. I'm happier now, the system itself is a giant error.
