The other morning I was sitting at my desk, the same black standing desk where I've written everything for the past fifteen years, when I remembered something newspaper columnist Jimmy Cannon wrote about Stan Musial.
My dad taught me long ago that there were two ways to market yourself and your work: with a lot of razzle dazzle, to trick the marks, or as part of an honest transaction between two people equally deserving of respect. The former has a much higher ceiling, the latter (radical candor no matter what) a higher floor. I’ve always opted for a high floor because I’d prefer not to be flooded and swept away when the tides of fortune go out
I’m self-employed and I opted for the “high floor.” I have to admit that sometimes in my industry, it’s hard not to feel demoralized when I see the “high ceiling” types.
But I do honest work and give my clients real value.
Man, I've told, explained, shared, talked about "I do this because I can't not do it" more times than I can estimate. I feel ya' buddy, totally get it, cuz I'm totally in it, have been for decades, and I know of what you speak.
Thanks for telling the truth - the amount of lying on the internet is really quite irritating.

Best anyone can do under the circumstances
I am constantly trying to quit writing, then will book a bunch of projects. I just can't stop.
I enjoy reading that work, so I need those projects to come out. I’m happy to read the work in progress too, as I do for Ian.
Seriously, I’m a junkie for the wrestling content. I’ll take whatever you’ve got!
Jimmy Cannon is the god of this shit.
He really is. The man did indeed write to end writing

Now I have to stop writing this to go write...
that's right, Mike. birds of a feather
Thank you for writing this, Oliver. And thank you for doing this work
Thanks, Karim. I'm glad we're both here for it!
"That's how I feel about writing, except they do let me do it for nothing, and often I have."
Gold
They will let you do it for free!
